Gene Linkage and Recombination

Linkage and recombination are used to describe the inheritance of genes. Linkage describes the process whereby genes on separate chromosomes will assort independently because of the separation of homologous chromosomes during Anaphase I of Meiosis I. Recombination is a process whereby genes located on the same chromosome will only assort independently if the two genes recombine during crossing over during Prophase I of Meiosis I. The simulation allows you to observe the recombination of alleles.
