Hybrids are the offspring of two different species. While scientists used to think such crosses were unusual or rare, evolutionary biologist Scott Taylor (an associate professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder) explains that hybrids are actually super common in nature. Humans have also hybridized different plants and animals throughout history to combine desirable traits in both species.
