Energy of a Spring

Energy of a Spring

Energy conservation and transformation in a spring. Drag the mass to stretch or compress the spring, and observe how spring position is related to potential energy. Then release the spring and observe the change from potential energy to kinetic energy, and ultimately to thermal energy (an increase in the temperature of the spring, ball, and the air around the ball) as the spring eventually comes to a stop.
