Standard Curve to Determine a pH

To determine the pH of an unknown solution, we can measure the light absorbance of the solution with a spectrophotometer. Then, we compare it to the absorbance of a series of standard solutions of known pH, which is also called the standard curve. This interactive slider explains how to use a standard curve and demonstrates the connection between absorbance and pH.
