SNPs and Drug Metabolism

Users return to the idea that patients may respond differently to the same medications, depending on their genotype. Students relate what they’ve learned through their exploration of PTC and SNPs to better understand the role of SNPs in drug metabolism and response. Students then investigate and determine how the metabolism of codeine is affected by SNPs. Finally, students consider the pros and cons of using genetic information to better treat patients.
