This AP® Biology pathway explores how genetic information is stored, copied, and expressed to determine the traits of an organism. Learners will investigate the structures responsible for passing hereditary information from one generation to the next, including DNA and RNA. They will explore the unique properties of DNA and mechanisms of DNA replication. Learners will also follow the flow of genetic information from DNA to RNA to protein, analyzing transcription, RNA processing, and translation, and understanding how these processes link an organism’s genotype to its phenotype.
