Meiosis and Genetic Diversity

This AP® Biology content explores meiosis and its role in inheritance and genetic diversity. Learners will examine meiosis I and II, the formation of haploid gametes, and the similarities and differences between mitosis and meiosis. They will explore how homologous chromosomes separate, how crossing over and random assortment occur, and how these processes generate variation while ensuring chromosomes are transmitted to the next generation.
