Water and the Elements of Life
This AP® Biology content explores the chemistry of life as it relates to water and the elements of life (C,H, N, O, P, S). In this pathway, learners will be introduced to water’s unique properties, its polarity, and the biochemical properties contributing to hydrogen bonding. Learners will also discover the composition of macromolecules and explore carbon’s molecular diversity through an analysis of isomers and functional groups.
