How can we address the preventable health disparities that exist between different communities in the US—particularly those that affect racially marginalized groups? One approach is by working toward health equity. Health equity involves the provision of fair and just opportunities for all people to be as healthy as possible, no matter who they are, where they live, or how much money they make. In this pathway, we’ll explore the importance of health equity and learn about different kinds of interventions that can help us achieve it. We’ll look at the roles that all people—such as policymakers, community members, and health-care professionals—can play in striving toward health equity. We’ll also investigate case studies of successful health equity interventions in the US. This pathway forms part of the Racism as a Public Health Crisis cluster. See our equity pledge as part of this initiative. Please note: This pathway contains sensitive content related to racial violence and discrimination.
