How can STEM educators advance racial equity and promote the success of all students in their classes? An inclusive classroom is a learning environment in which all students are equitably supported and included, regardless of their identities, learning preferences, abilities, or backgrounds. This pathway describes the characteristics of an inclusive classroom and outlines related activities that educators can integrate into their STEM lessons. It also introduces inclusive classroom management and arrangement strategies to make all aspects of the learning environment welcoming and engaging, particularly for students from racially diverse backgrounds. This pathway forms part of the Advancing Equity in STEM through Inclusive Teaching cluster. See our equity pledge as part of this initiative.
